Wheel alignments, tire rotations and the steering and suspension repairs behind uneven tire wear, for cars, trucks and light-duty diesels.

Keep Your Tires Wearing Evenly

Spencer’s Auto & Diesel handles wheel alignments, tire rotations and tire service for cars, trucks, SUVs and light-duty diesels at our Ocala shop. If your vehicle pulls to one side, your steering wheel sits off-center, or your tires are wearing on one edge, our ASE certified technicians will find the cause and correct it.

Alignment problems usually start somewhere else: a worn tie rod, a tired ball joint, a pothole on SR 40. That’s why we check steering and suspension parts before we adjust anything. Tire rotations are free with any other service, so it’s easy to add one to your next oil change.

Signs You Need a Wheel Alignment

Pulling to one side
On a straight, flat road the vehicle drifts left or right when you loosen your grip.

Off-center steering wheel
The logo on your wheel is crooked while you’re driving straight.

Uneven tire wear
One edge of the tread is worn more than the other, or the tread feels feathered.

Squealing tires
Tires squeal on normal turns at normal speeds.

Vibration at highway speed
Usually a balance issue, but it can point to worn suspension parts.

You hit a curb or pothole hard
One solid hit can knock a wheel out of spec. Lifts and leveling kits change it too.

Wheel Alignment

An alignment sets the angles of your wheels so they point straight and sit flat on the road. Correct angles keep tires wearing evenly, help the vehicle track straight, and reduce rolling resistance, which helps fuel mileage.

Tire Rotation

Front tires wear faster than rears, especially on front-wheel-drive vehicles and heavy diesel pickups. Rotating them every 5,000 to 7,500 miles spreads the wear out so all four last longer. A rotation is free with any other service at Spencer’s.

Steering & Suspension Repair

Worn tie rods, ball joints, control arm bushings and shocks let the wheels shift out of alignment no matter how carefully they’re set. We replace worn parts first so your alignment holds. Fleet customers get the same service through our fleet maintenance program.

Trucks & Diesel Alignment

Diesel pickups carry a heavy engine over the front axle, and many Ocala trucks run leveling kits or bigger tires. Both change how the front end wears. Our techs already handle light-duty diesel repair, so they know what these front ends need. Ask about alignment on lifted trucks.

How a Wheel Alignment Works

An alignment is more than turning a few bolts. Here is the order we work in.

  1. Inspect. We check tire condition, air pressure, and steering and suspension parts for wear.
  2. Measure. Sensors measure camber, caster and toe at each wheel and compare them to factory spec.
  3. Adjust. Your technician adjusts each angle back into spec and centers the steering wheel.
  4. Road test. We drive the vehicle to confirm it tracks straight, then walk you through the results.

Alignment vs. Balancing vs. Rotation

These three services get mixed up all the time. Each one fixes a different problem.

Service What it fixes How often
Wheel alignment Pulling, crooked steering wheel, edge wear on tires About once a year, with new tires, or after a hard hit
Tire balancing Vibration in the steering wheel or seat at highway speed When tires are mounted or vibration starts
Tire rotation Front tires wearing faster than rears Every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, often with an oil change

Intervals are general guidance. Check your owner’s manual and tire warranty, which may require rotations to stay valid.

Tire & Alignment FAQs

The most common signs are the vehicle pulling to one side, a steering wheel that sits off-center when driving straight, uneven wear on one edge of the tires, and tires squealing on normal turns. A hard hit on a curb or pothole can also throw the alignment out.
Have the alignment checked about once a year, any time you install new tires, after suspension or steering repairs, and after a hard hit. Check sooner if you notice pulling or uneven tire wear.
An alignment adjusts the angles of the wheels so the vehicle tracks straight and tires wear evenly. Balancing adds small weights to each wheel so it spins smoothly, which fixes vibration at highway speed. They solve different problems and are often done together.
Most alignments take about an hour when steering and suspension parts are in good shape. If we find worn parts, we’ll quote the repair before doing any extra work.
Yes. When wheels are out of alignment, the tires scrub against the road instead of rolling freely, which increases rolling resistance and costs fuel. It also wears tires out faster.
Yes, we align leveled and lifted pickups, including diesel trucks. Lift and leveling kits change suspension angles, so the truck should be aligned after any lift or tire size change.
Yes. A tire rotation is free when you purchase any other service at Spencer’s, such as an oil change or brake service. Just ask for it at check-in.
